This week, we’re at HIMSS13 in New Orleans, La. HIMSS is a non-profit organization dedicated to the optimal use of information technology in health care. On Monday, March 4 and Tuesday, March 5, join us at the Intel booth #940 to see staff members from the NCCoE demonstrate a proof of concept for the Trusted Geolocation in the Cloud.
Tomorrow at RSA, Donna Dodson, director of the NIST Computer Security Division and acting executive director of the NCCoE, will moderate a panel titled, “PNG-F41 - Administration Cyber Security Priorities for Federal Information Systems.” Panelists include Matthew Scholl, deputy division chief of the NIST Computer Security Division, and
This overview will include discussion of continuous monitoring; trusted internet connection (TIC) capabilities and traffic consolidation; and strong authentication to federal information systems using HSPD-12 personal identity verification (PIV) cards.
The session will take place on March 1, 2013 from 9:00 to 10:00 am in Room 131.
Donna Dodson, director of the NIST Computer Security Division and acting executive director of the NCCoE, will speak on a distinguished panel at RSA today from 10:40 to 11:40 am titled, “Roadmap Toward a More Secure and Resilient Cyber Ecosystem.” Donna will be joined by
Dr. Peter Fonash, the DHS Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary Cybersecurity and Communications and CTO, will facilitate the discussion.
Dr. Pat Gallagher, the director of NIST, will be at the NCCoE’s booth (#250) at RSA from 4:00 to 4:30 pm to meet people, listen to ideas and discuss NIST’s role in the February 12, 2013 Executive Order "Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity." Leadership from the NIST Computer Security Division and key NCCoE staff will join Dr. Gallagher at the booth.
Yesterday, in response to the Executive Order, NIST issued a Request for Information (RFI) in the Federal Register as its first step in the process to develop a Cybersecurity Framework, a set of voluntary standards and best practices to guide industry in reducing cyber risks to the networks and computers that support critical infrastructure vital to the nation's economy, security and daily life.
Nate Lesser, the NCCoE deputy director, will be at CyberMaryland’s RSA Expo Booth (#216) from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm to present the center’s 2013 strategy and discuss recent milestones in the Secure Exchange of Electronic Health Information Demonstration Project (HITS). Nate will describe the HITS Use Case for Mobile Devices and talk about how organizations can participate and contribute. He will also take questions.
Staff from the NCCoE (booth #250) enjoyed a productive first day at the RSA Conference and celebrated an overwhelmingly positive response from executives at private companies, and staff members from academic institutions, government agencies and non-profit groups. NCCoE staff spoke to an array of interested parties and found quite a few prospective collaborators. Staff members from NCCoE also demonstrated a proof of concept for the Trusted Geolocation in the Cloud throughout the day.
Visit us at booth #250 this week at the 2013 RSA conference in San Francisco. We’re excited to meet cyber enthusiasts, learn about emerging technologies and find prospective collaborators. Some highlights:
