NIST is initiating a revision of Special Publication (SP) 800-213A, Internet of Things (IoT) Device Cybersecurity Guidance for the Federal Government: IoT Device Cybersecurity Requirement Catalog, and has posted a Pre-Draft Call for Comments. This update aims to incorporate lessons learned, align with recent frameworks like CSF 2.0 and SP 800-53 Rev. 5.2.0, and address the evolving IoT threat landscape. This follows the draft update to SP 800-213 Rev. 1.

The NIST Cybersecurity for IoT Program has released the initial public draft of Special Publication (SP) 800-213r1 (Revision 1), "IoT Product Cybersecurity Guidelines for the Federal Government: Establishing IoT Product Cybersecurity Requirements." The public comment period ends August 24, 2026.

NIST announces the release of Special Publication (SP) 800-126r4 (Revision 4), Technical Specification for the Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP): SCAP Version 1.4, and SP 800-126Ar4, SCAP 1.4 Component Specification Version Updates: An Annex to NIST SP 800-126r4.

NIST Releases Two Updated Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP)  Publications for Comment

Today, NIST is releasing Special Publication (SP) 800-218A, Secure Software Development Practices for Generative AI and Dual-Use Foundation Models: An SSDF Community Profile.

NIST has posted an initial public draft of NIST Special Publication (SP) 800-218A, Secure Software Development Practices for Generative AI and Dual-Use Foundation Models: An SSDF Community Profile, for public comment. 

The initial public draft (ipd) of SP 800-79r3 (Revision 3), Guidelines for the Authorization of PIV Card and Derived PIV Credential Issuers, provides appropriate and useful guidelines for assessing the reliability of PIV Card and derived PIV credential issuers. Comment deadline is January 29, 2024.

Two PIV publications are being revised: "Interfaces for Personal Identity Verification" (SP 800-73-5, 3 parts), and "Cryptographic Algorithms and Key Sizes for Personal Identity Verification" (SP 800-78-5). Submit your public comments through December 8, 2023.

NIST has released a revised publication, "Cybersecurity Supply Chain Risk Management Practices for Systems and Organizations," NIST Special Publication 800-161r1.

NIST has released final IoT-specific guidance (NIST Special Publications 800-213 and 800-213A) to federal organizations to support extending their risk management process to the inclusion of IoT devices in federal systems.

NIST has released a final public draft for comment: Draft Special Publication (SP) 800-172. The comment period ends on August 21, 2020.
