Dr. Leary is a member of the National CyberWatch Center’s Leadership Team and is full-time faculty at Northern Virginia Community College. She also serves as a Senior Security Advisor with Avaya Government Solutions, providing security consultation services to Civilian and Military agencies. Dr. Leary’s research interests include identity management and authentication, privacy, and data mining social networking sites. Other related "extra curricular" activities include serving as an Advisory Board Member of Microsoft's Official Academic Curriculum (MOAC), and past member of ANSI-BBB Identity Theft Prevention and Identity Management Standards Panel, and several ACM Working Groups. She has contributed to several published papers on issues with transferability between two- and four-year institutions, identity theft, and cloud security. She is presently leading a National task force of faculty focused on mapping college and CyberWatch model curriculum to the NICE Framework.
