NIST plans to host a SHA-3 2014 Workshop at the University of California, Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara, CA on August 22, 2014, following Crypto 2014. DIAC 2014 (Directions in Authenticated Ciphers) will immediately follow the SHA-3 2014 Workshop.
The length of the SHA-3 Workshop has been reduced to one day. NIST hopes this workshop will continue the vigorous participation of the cryptographic research community that made the SHA-3 Competition a success. The goal of the workshop is for the community to help NIST get a better understanding of SHA-3 and its possible applications, with particular focus on additional modes of operation for SHA-3 that might be worth standardizing in the future.

Accommodations are available on the University of California, Santa Barbara campus in the Anacapa and Santa Rosa Residence Halls on a first come, first served basis; early registrations and reservations are highly recommended. A number of housing packages are available to suit your travels and meeting attendance. NOTE: Children under the age of 13 can not stay in the dormitories, so those bringing younger children will need to make separate arrangements in one of the nearby hotels.
Alternate accommodations are available in the surrounding Goleta area. Crypto 2014 has arranged room blocks at two local hotels for the entire week to accommodate Crypto 2014, SHA-3 2014 Workshop and DIAC. Attendees will be responsible for transportation between local hotels and UCSB.
The UCSB campus is located approximately two miles from the Santa Barbara airport (code: SBA). The airport is served by several airlines including American, American West, Delta, United, and US Airways. All major rental car agencies are represented in Santa Barbara. AMTRAK also has rail connections from both San Francisco and Los Angeles. Santa Barbara is approximately 100 miles (160 km) north of the Los Angeles airport and 350 miles (560 km) south of San Francisco.
