NIST announces the release of Special Publication 800-107, Revision 1Recommendation for Using Approved Hash Algorithms. In this revision, the security properties of SHA-512/224 and SHA-512/256 are addressed, the discussion of the security of HMAC values has been expanded, the Randomized Hashing for Digital Signature discussion has been revised, and the Hash-based Key Derivation Function section has been rewritten to incorporate the "extraction-then-expansion" key derivation procedure specified in SP 800-56C and to discuss different approved hash-based key derivation functions.
