Supply Chain Traceability: Manufacturing Meta-Framework | NIST IR 8536 Initial Public Draft

NIST and the NCCoE are pleased to announce the initial public draft of NIST Internal Report (IR) 8536, Supply Chain Traceability Manufacturing Meta-Framework, for public review and comment. This document presents a comprehensive framework designed to enhance traceability across manufacturing supply chains, focusing on improving product provenance, pedigree, and supply chain transparency.

The Meta-Framework introduces key concepts such as trusted data repositories, ecosystems, and traceability chains, providing a structured approach to securely recording and linking traceability records throughout the supply chain. The framework addresses industry and regulatory needs by offering guidance on data integrity, secure access, and traceability event recording.

The public comment period is open through November 15, 2024. See the publication details for a copy of the draft and instructions for submitting comments.
