Abstract. In the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the United States, the Cryptographic Technology Group is responsible for researching, developing, engineering, and producing guidelines, recommendations and best practices for cryptographic algorithms, methods, and protocols. This talk will overview some crypto activities at NIST, from the perspective of a foreign guest researcher, and demystify how NIST is open for collaboration and feedback from multiple stakeholders. The talk will delve a bit into exploratory projects about multi-party threshold cryptography (MPTC) and privacy-enhancing cryptography (PEC), and will also take a chance to give brief updates about new/emerging standards from post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and lightweight cryptography (LWC).
