The Broadcom TRNG Prism+ module implements the NIST SP-800-90A compliant CTR_DRBG mechanism based on AES-256 ciphers and NIST SP-800-90B compliant entropy source and follows recommendations in (draft) NIST SP-800-90C . The Entropy Source (ES) used as a noise source is a pool of ring oscillators. All control and status register accesses to the on chip Support Processor (ARM Cortex-R4) are provided via the APB (Advanced Periphera Bus) Interface. Self-tests are performed automatically after cmd reset. Self-tests can also be performed at any time by issuing the test command. The Instantiate Command execution starts with KAT (known answer test) of DRBG and test of entropy source if it is used as entropy input.
